The Mature & Part-Time Students’ Officer works to represent all mature and part-time students here at Leeds Trinity University. They work throughout the year on a variety of projects, raising the issues faced by mature and part-time students, relating to childcare, travel and others . A mature student is generally defined as a student beginning an undergraduate programme at the age of 21 or above, or beginning a postgraduate programme at the age of 25 or above.
HI im Emma, Im 31 and im a second year Psychology student. My role as Mature Student and Part-Time officer is to listen to the concerns and ideas of mature and part time students and put these ideas to the council for action.
I have a passion for the challenges mature and part time students may face, and I want to help make time at Leeds Trinity an even more exciting and enjoyable for all those studying here.
My top tips for Uni life is: Always ask! – if you’re unsure on something, whether that be subject specific, or anything from social clubs to finances, we are all friendly here and if we can’t help its more than likely we will know who can. No question is too big, small or silly, even in lectures if your thinking it the chances are someone else is too. Make sure you balance work and social activities, your studies are very important but so is taking time out, don’t stress yourself out too much. If you find that things are getting tough talk to someone. Peers, staff, your personal tutor, your course rep or even me! We are all here to help! Make use of the Learning hub and mentors, they are a god send and are here to help.
If you have any concerns or ideas or just want a friendly chat and a coffee feel free to drop me a message I’m always glad of new ideas and friendly company :-D
