Hi everyone, I hope you and your families are all safe and well.

It’s been a while since we last met face to face, coming up to 2 months now and like everyone else I am unsure on when we will return to our campus. Lockdown has been very hard for my family; as well as many others. As someone with a depression disorder and anxiety, I thought I could give everyone some insight on how I’ve been coping during isolation.

Firstly, I’ve been watching A LOT of TV series. For me, I’ve found that a great way to just escape for a while is finding a really good series to fully immerse yourself in. Not going to lie I’ve binged a lot and I’ve got a lot to recommend. My first recommendation is ‘How to Get Away with Murder’ (available on Netflix). Trust me, you need a series to watch, drop me a message got tones of great ones to indorse.

For the non-TV lovers out there, I believe audiobooks are amazing. Not really got any myself, but my Mum has really been pushing me to get out a garden lounger and get that tan whilst indulging into a book. That sounds like my idea of hell. However, I do enjoy a good Biography now and again, just maybe not in the sun, more like the shade. #GingerProbs

For the gamers out there, I’m sure you’ll know more than me but when I get the chance, I do enjoy the social aspects getting on the Xbox (in my case) brings. Pro Clubs with my friends or fighting in the Gulag really helps me in my downtown, although occasionally increasing my frustration. I highly urge any Xbox owners to purchase the ‘Game Pass’ (First month for £1). This enables you to download a range of games for free, my latest download being Red Dead Redemption 2, saving me £60.

Another game worth mentioning for a small purchase price of £3.49 on Xbox is Monopoly, each week me and my family throw ourselves into the virtual board and end up not speaking for hours afterwards. (Don’t know why we put ourselves through it).

As you all know I am still working Full-Time here but my surroundings have changed, my new mobile office from couch to garden to desk has been going well, I’ve been really grateful to be in work as it has helped me keep a routine and purpose each day, something I know I would struggle with without. Days seem to go bye a lot quicker through the week compared to weekends, but I am glad for the relaxation and rest.

Some of the things I have been working on whilst working during Isolation are things like: The Student Rent Relief Campaign with LBSU and LUU officers, Green Impact accreditation (Pushing for Very Good), The No Detriment Policy, Mental Health Awareness Week, Chris Combats Cabin Fever, Weekly Quiz nights and many other things that are keeping me busy and really helping keep me motivated and not feel majorly stressed (Sometimes).

Another thing I’ve been doing is a lot more exercise. Doing 5k Jogs and 10k Bike rides amongst daily workouts have been great and gave me an enormous sense of happiness. Getting out and taking in some fresh air, listening to my music and my hometown to explore, wouldn’t believe how much has changed in the 5 years I have been away from Liverpool whilst living in Leeds. I know it is easy to just stay inside and keep yourself somewhat entertained, but I promise, getting out really does help and bring back some normality, the roads aren’t as empty as you’d think.

Well, I’ll shut up for now! I’m sure you’ll be hearing from me again, no doubt a post tomorrow, so that’s all for now. I am planning on some big things for the upcoming year and to end my first year of being your Vice President.

Keep in touch and Stay safe,

Lots of Love from me,

Chris.

xoxo
