- Complete your Nomination Form
Your nomination form is your first step in the election. This will be available online from Monday 16 December 10am closing on Friday 21 February at Midday. Make sure to submit by the deadline as no nominations can be accepted after this point.
- Tell people about you in your Manifesto
You have the opportunity to tell the world all about you in your manifesto when you nominate yourself. We will be offering some campaign tips and advice on the website and through Candidate Training. All candidates can write up to 250 words as to why students should vote for them which will then feature on the Elections website. We cannot guarantee any changes to the 250 words once the nomination deadline has passed.
- Attend Candidate Briefing and Training
The Candidate Briefing is mandatory for President, Vice President and Student Council candidates. This will go through all the rules of the Election and is the perfect time to ask the Deputy Returning Officer (who ensures the running of free and fair elections) any questions. We will cover rules and regulations, expected conduct of candidates and their campaign teams, complaints procedures, publicity budgets, result night procedures and candidate hustings.
There is also training on offer to support you in the elections (see key dates for times). The training is open to all students going for any position.
- Spend money on your campaign
All candidates can spend up to £20 of their own money on campaign materials.
President, Vice President and Student Council members may spend a further £20 on campaigning for which the Union will match 50% up to the total £40 limit.
All expenses for your campaign must be accounted for. President, Vice President and Student Council candidates must return all receipts by 3pm on Friday 6 March 2019. This should be submitted with the form provided to candidates in voting week. If a candidate has spent nothing during the election they should email LTSUElections@leedstrinity.ac.uk to say so.
Candidates for Course Reps, Societies and Sports Clubs are not required to submit receipts but must be able to provide these should the Returning or Deputy Returning Officer have any queries.
