Committee Elections

Committee By Elections 2025

What are the Committee Elections?

Clubs and Societies are run by a student committee. The committee usually consists of a President, Secretary, Treasurer.

Committee members can only remain in post for one academic year and they must be democratically elected through an election.

By nominating yourself for a position in the Committee Elections, you agree to abide by the Committee Election Rules.

Why a By Election?

The Committee By Elections are just another chance to ensure that every club or society has a full committee. Without a full committee the club or society cannot run.

At the moment we have a few clubs and societies that don't have a full committee so the By Election allows them to fill those positions.

Any current active clubs and societies, without a full committee will end up going up for adoption after the By Election, until a full committee is formed.

More Information

When are Committee Elections run?

We run Committee Elections every year (around March/April). We do this early to give the outgoing committee enough time to handover to the new committee before summer.

All your committee members must be elected into their role through an election, which will be held online.

How do the Committee Elections work?

An election consists of a nomination period (where members can nominate themselves for a committee role) and a voting period (where members vote for the student they want to be elected).

Who can vote in the Committee Elections?

Only current students who are a member of your society or club can nominate and vote in elections.

What posts are available?

Typically, societies have three core committee roles - President, Secretary and Treasurer
