Candidate for the position of English and Media Rep

ALEXANDER PHAM-SMITH

Hi. I'm Alex Pham-Smith and I am running for the position of English and Media course rep because I want to develop a more positive experience for all students even during this coronavirus pandemic, and to be the student point of call for any academic concerns.

I have experience in public speaking and teamwork and have developed the following skills:

  • Helping to achieve the best experience for people
  • Receiving feedback and acting on it
  • Ensuring all aspects of work are understood before moving on to the next task
  • Putting people and their concerns first

All of these will make me an ideal candidate for the role.

If I were to be elected, I would aim to:

  • Make on-campus and online resources known – students do not have to rely on facilities during the 9-5 hours, online material is available and needed in this pandemic.
  • Weekly or fortnightly emails / Teams meetings with cohort – it is paramount that students raise any concerns to the course rep, the more issues flagged, the quicker the action will be taken.
  • Ensure that everyone is a name not a number

These aims will have a positive impact on the students because in these unprecedented times, students rely on online communication and by electing me as your Course Rep, I will be sure that the student will be of the most important factor.
