Welcome to Leeds Trinity: Your Guide to Settling In
First things first — welcome to the family!
If you’re reading this, chances are you’re about to start your Leeds Trinity journey, and we couldn’t be more excited to have you here. Whether you’re moving into halls, commuting from home, or still figuring out what’s going on (honestly, same), this guide’s here to help you find your feet.
Find Your Way Around (Without Getting Lost on Day One)
Our campus isn’t huge, but the first week can feel like a real-life game of “Where’s Wally?”. Take a bit of time to explore — you’ll thank yourself later when you can confidently say, “Yeah, I know where that is” without panicking.
-
Grab a campus map
-
Check out key spots: Library, The SU Cafe, the SU, and your teaching buildings.
-
Pro tip: The coffee at the SU Cafe on campus will become part of your personality by week two.
Meet People Your Way
Not into wild club nights? No problem. Love a good party? We’ve got you. Freshers isn’t one-size-fits-all — there are events for every vibe.
-
Try out society tasters — you don’t have to commit to anything right away.
-
Follow the official SU socials to see what’s happening.
-
Remember: everyone’s in the same “I know no one” boat. Saying hi can go a long way.
Essentials for Your First Week
Let’s be real: you’ll probably forget something. But here’s what you really don’t want to be without:
-
A reusable water bottle (stay hydrated, bestie).
-
Bedding that feels like a hug after a long day.
-
Snacks — because lectures are hungry work.
-
A tote bag or backpack for lugging your stuff around.
Don’t Worry if It Feels Weird at First
Moving somewhere new — or starting a whole new chapter — is a big deal. Some people settle in instantly; others take weeks to feel at home. Both are completely normal.
-
If you feel homesick, chat to your flatmates, course mates, or the SU team.
-
Check out the Wellbeing Services — they’re there for you, no judgement. LTSU Advice is independent from the Univerity. Get in touch!
-
Give yourself time. You don’t need to have your “uni besties” by day three.
Make the Most of the SU
Your Students’ Union is here to make your uni life better — whether that’s through events, campaigns, advice, or just a place to hang out.
-
Pop into the SU space and say hi.
-
Follow us on socials for updates and giveaways.
-
Get involved — even a small thing like attending one event can lead to big connections.
Your First Week Challenge: Learn the name of at least one person from your course, one from your accommodation, and one from a society you’re curious about. That’s three new people in your network already.
