Manifesto
I am currently studying for an MBA at Leeds Trinity University. I have completed a BBA and LLB and have served the university as a Faculty Representative for Business, Computing and Digital Industries, Student Ambassador, Co-Creation Student Panel Member, and I am currently working as the Business and Law School Representative.
In these roles, I have listened to students, worked with staff, and followed issues through until outcomes were delivered. This experience has shown me that progress occurs when concerns are communicated clearly and solutions are carried through consistently. My priority is the academic experience because it affects every student everyday.
Students should clearly understand assignment expectations, avoid unnecessary deadline pressure, and receive feedback that shows how they can improve. I will work with schools to strengthen clarity in coursework guidance, encourage fair spacing of deadlines, and support feedback that helps students move forward with confidence.
I also want students to feel prepared for employment after graduation. I will work closely with the Careers and Placements team to expand employer engagement, mentoring opportunities, and practical guidance so students approach internships, placements, and graduate roles with confidence.
The goal is not only opportunity now, but pathways that remain for the students who come after us. As President, I will be visible, approachable, and accountable.
I will hold regular forums, provide clear progress updates, and create student–staff discussion spaces where suggestions lead to practical action. I will introduce an annual Student Experience Report so future officers and the university continue working on the priorities students identify each year, and strengthen the course representative system so student feedback consistently reaches decision-making meetings.
My aim is a Students’ Union that represents students professionally, works constructively, and delivers improvements students can see throughout the year.
Rosario Tom — Stronger representation, accountability, and greater opportunities.
