How are clubs & societies run?
Clubs and Societies are run by students who have been elected by their peers. Your Students' Union trains and supports these volunteers.
Boxing is our 2018-19 club and Coach of the year winners at our annual awards evening.
The SU will continue to support individual athletes who enter national BUCS competition weekends. If you would like to compete you are required to contact the Students' Union. Due to the extreme nature of this sport, you must be passed as fit to compete by a registered boxing club or registered coach. The SU currently has student-athletes training with various local gyms with professional coaches.
To compete you require a valid Amateur Boxing Association (ABA) medical card, AIBA competition head guards and hand bandages and a fitted mouth guard (excluding red).
Competition gloves will be provided by BUCS for all competitors. BUCS Boxing competitions will be governed in accordance with the rules and regulations of the International Boxing Association (AIBA). The Official in Charge of the competition will follow the AIBA Open Boxing (AOB) Competition Rules.
