About Us

The Psychology Society exists to explore mind, brain, and behaviour in a fun, inclusive, and practical way. Whether you’re a psychology student or simply curious, you’re welcome. We aim to:

  • Learn together through talks, journal clubs, and skills workshops.
  • Support one another with study drop-ins, peer mentoring, and signposting to wellbeing resources.
  • Build community by creating welcoming spaces across years and courses—buddy schemes, low-pressure socials, collaborative events with other societies, and opportunities to contribute to the society’s direction.

The types of things that we want to do:

  • Journal Club: short, friendly discussions of recent studies (slides optional).
  • Skills Clinics: SPSS syntax, NVivo coding, Gorilla experiment basics, CV/LinkedIn tune-ups.
  • Talks & Panels: academics, practitioners (e.g., CBT, IAPT)
  • Study Support: revision bootcamps, methods Q&A, dissertation workshops
  • Psych in the Wild: museum trips, science festivals, BPS events, campus lab tours.
  • Film & Discussion Nights: psychology in films and discussion
  • Wellbeing & Socials: quiz nights, walks, board games
  • Peer Mentoring: year-to-year support and “ask me anything” sessions.

I am interested. What do I do?
