As a democratic, membership charity we have a range of documents that help explain how we run and make decisions. These are known as our governance documents.
How to propose a policy
Any full member of LTSU (all current registered Leeds Trinity University students are automatically members of LTSU unless they opt out) can propose a policy. It might be a policy requiring LTSU to change it's internal practices in some way, lobby the University to change something, lobby local or national government on a certain issue, or take some other form of action. To propose a policy, download and complete the policy template below and e-mail it to firstname.lastname@example.org with email@example.com copied in. Please include your name and student number in the e-mail. The proposed policy will then be put forward as a motion at the next applicable Union Council meeting. You may attend the Council meeting and ask to speak about your proposed policy if you wish. Council will discuss your proposed policy and decide whether to pass it, reject it, suggest amendments to it or put it to a referendum. You will be informed as to the outcome. If the motion is passed, it will formally become policy and the Union will be required to act on it.
